How do you calculate BTU from Kilowatts?

wood burning stoves multi fuel stoves

The easiest way to calculate BTUs from a figure in Kilowatts is to multiply the kilowatt amount by 3000.

Therefore:

18kw wood burning stoves equal approximately 56,000 BTUs.

16kw wood burning stoves are approximately 48,000 BTUs

10kw wood burners equal approximately 30,000 BTUs

5kw multi fuel stoves equal approximately 15,000 BTUs.

BTU stands for British Thermal Unit and, by way of heat comparison for the layman, a gas fire tends to be 2.7kw to 3 kw.
